He's A Soul Man

Howard Hewett #2

I had the opportunity as a teenager to watch Shalamar play live at the National Theatre in Lagos, many many moons ago :-) It was a privilege and an honour to then have been given the opportunity to shoot them live in London just over a year ago, many thanks to Seye Aina of PACEWORKING Network for making that happen.

Was totally freaked out and hyped up about it all, that I really don't know how I managed to get any images on that night. The whole venue was rocking to hit, after hit , after hit – 'Second time around', 'nite to remember', 'There it is', 'I can make u feel good', 'friends' and the hits just kept on coming .

Jeffrey Daniel (the original moon walker, body-popping and dance maestro) did he's thing. Howard Hewett sang he's heart out and the beautiful Carolyn Griffey who replaced my pin up babe of the eighties Jody (Those eyes, her short Bob cut and that voice haba the babe fine!!) Watley, was fantastic.

I've followed Howard's solo career to date, with over 5 – 6 albums and a Grammy award to he's name, this brother can really sing. Check out a song called 'How do I know I love u' from he's 1994 album 'Its Time'. This man in my opinion is to be considered as one of the true soul men of he's generation.

Nice capture. At f/2.8, the focus was spot on.
