Oldest Trick In The World #2 - As The World Rolls By

"Eyi Je, Eyi O Je"

I first witnessed this trick many many moons ago as a teenager at the Bar Beach in Lagos (Nigeria). And used to marvel at the fact that people fell for it. The Yoruba's call it "Eyi Je, Eyi O Je", literally translated means "There's a winner on this one, but not on this one".

Although this guy act is purely entertainment. On a street corner in every country of the world from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, you will find some poor soul falling for this same trick or some variation of it by the minute.

Lamentable me, Fotografa. I have no clue what the trick is. But I sure do love it in B&W!
Fotografa: The basic form of the trick is usually one ball and three cups. Place the ball on the table, cover it up with one of the cups in view of the audience, shuffle the cups around and then get the audience to place wagers under which cup the ball is. All sounds pretty easy and straight forward, as all you need to do is keep your eyes on the cup he placed the ball under. Wrong!! These guys are masters at sleight of hand.

The first set of punters to place wagers always guess right and win big against the person doing the trick. However, what isn’t evident is the fact that they are in on the scam. So after a few winning rounds, some unsuspecting poor soul always joins in and looses big by guessing wrong.
I wonder who's in on the scam with him. Probably the guy behind the kids.
Love the conversion.
The old version with cards of find the lady...a queen and two other cards has always fascinated me, you never even seem to guess right! This is a great follow on to yesterday
Great image! Also fantastic toning. The expressions on the faces are nice too.
I have seen in the show "The Real Hustle" how the trick works.
You have hit the perfect retouching techniques for your awesome capture. Keep doing whatever u doing grin
Just been nosing around some of your other photos.... oh yes - am loving this one.

Good job!
